Welcome to the July issue of the Harley-Davidson e-Zine.
This is always an exciting month for us with the launch of our new bikes and Model-Year 11 is no different.
We have the new Sportster® SuperLow™, the returning Softail® Deluxe and Electra Glide® Classic and four 2011 CVOs. We also have engine upgrades on the Touring range and ABS as standard on most Softail machines. Click here for an overview of the new motorcycles and upgrades that will be available.
New colours add an interesting dynamic to some of the existing motorcycles, including a White Hot Denim introduced on the XR1200X™ and VRCSCF V-Rod Muscle™ and Cool Blue Pearl for the XL1200N Nighster® and the FXDF Dyna® Fat Bob® to highlight just a few.
If you're looking to try any Harley-Davidson® motorcycle out for size, the online booking engine is available now and all year round on the Harley-Davidson website. Simply choose your road, and the Harley® that's right for you.
And don’t forget your Harley-Daivdson MotorClothes® to look good both on and off the road. However, you may need to be quick! Our new range of fashionwear – which will be exclusively available in Harley-Davidson dealers from August – got the thumbs up from a host of young celebrities this month at the famous T in the Park festival. Click here to find out more.
For the more safety conscious, the new MotorClothes® Illumination range of products have been developed – bringing both high visibility and safety together in a package. With ‘360° Enhanced Visibility’ – the latest generation of reflectivity from 3M™ Scotchlite™ – you can be five times more visible than in regular riding gear. This is exclusive to Harley-Davidson MotorClothes® in the motorsports industry and we’ve made the most of it, designing a complete outfit for both men and women in a range of stylish jackets, gloves and trousers. Visit your nearest authorised Harley-Davidson dealer for more information.
See you on the road,

Passing your motorcycle test can be a daunting experience. Many people are reluctant to apply for their two-wheel license because of the complex training involved and choose the pillion seat instead…
However, the Harley-Davidson® Rider’s Edge Academy® challenges this perception. Over the next three issues of the e-Zine, we’ll be following the progress of two non-motorcyclists on their quest to complete their tests with the dedicated training school.
Jenna Lakhdari and Joshua Van Den Bos have worked in Harley-Davidson’s press office for a combined total of four years, and are looking forward to finally getting their road licenses.
Twenty-four-year-old Jenna says: “Three years ago, I was happy driving my car and riding a motorcycle was not something I ever wanted to do – I always thought I was too short! However, my partner rides bikes, but has never had a motorcycle of his own. Seeing the variety of new models launched by Harley-Davidson, and the modifications that can be performed, I realise that my height is not a problem at all.”
Meanwhile, former professional motorcycle racer Joshua is excited about being able to ride on the road. He says: “As my days as an aspiring racer have all but dried up, I thought that getting a motorcycle license for the road would be the ideal substitute and a good way to continue riding. I have always enjoyed riding motorcycles whatever the discipline, so I think riding on the road will be really good fun. Hopefully I can breeze through my examination and finally get out on the road.”
The Rider's Edge Academy offers a variety of flexible five and six-day courses from CBT and Direct Access, to advanced rider programmes and a “Day with a Harley®”.
Training includes:
- use of a Harley-Davidson® jacket, helmet, gloves and waterproof clothing
- use of a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle
- fuel
- accommodation (if applicable)
- lunch
- top quality instruction.
Don’t miss the next issue of the e-zine, where we’ll be catching up with Jenna and Joshua after their two-wheel theory tests. Alternatively, for more information on the Rider's Edge Academy please visit www.ridersedge.co.uk or call 0871 641 2207
